HISTORY OF NATIONAL FOOT & ANKLE I.P.A. National Foot & Ankle I.P.A. (NFAIPA) is a nation-wide network of quality podiatric providers. NFAIPA was founded in 1991 and incorporated in the State of Kentucky. Interest in the association from podiatry providers has been overwhelming, allowing us to be very selective in our panel appointments. We have members in many Florida counties with over 50 providers state-wide. In Central Florida (Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Brevard, Volusia, Polk, Flagler, and Lake counties) our panel is comprised of over 40 providers with at least 50 separate service locations. NFAIPA was founded to assist podiatry specialists to succeed in a world of capitated health care. Our philosophy is a simple one- provide quality administrative and management services to providers and health plans while keeping overhead to an absolute minimum. It is our contention that administrative overhead should never exceed 11% of capitation, and we are currently taking an average 8.75% withhold in Florida. Provider turn-over in those areas where an active capitated contract is in place (i.e. Central Florida) has been extremely low. We have had only three providers withdrawal from our network since 1993, and no withdrawals in the past 20 months due to dissatisfaction with the network. NFAIPA is continuing to expand, with most of the growth centered in Central and South Florida. We are currently in negotiations with a network services company, to further expand our capability to provide detailed reports to our contracted health plans. Bonnie Reper is the NFAIPA Administrator (breper@nfaipa.com) and she is the point of contact for information regarding all aspects of the IPA. The office phone number is 352-242-9393 and the fax is 352-242-9284.
